# Analyse Mutual Funds

> Get a complete, evidence-based breakdown of your mutual fund portfolio—diversification, cost, performance, and risk—computed directly from your Consolidated Account Statement (CAS).

Kalpi doesn't just help you discover new funds — it acts as a diagnostic terminal for the mutual funds you already own. By importing your CAS, you can see exactly where your money is concentrated, whether your funds are earning their keep against category peers, how much you're paying in avoidable costs, and how much real risk your portfolio is carrying — all backed by specific numbers pulled from your own holdings, not generic advice.

## Importing Your Portfolio

At the top of the Mutual Funds dashboard, click **Update** to upload your CAS. Pick a source below for exact steps, or drop the file if you already have it:

If you already have your CAS downloaded, you can skip the above and simply **drag and drop the file**. If your statement is password-protected, add the password using the *Add password (if applicable)* field before analysing.

Once uploaded, click **Analyse my mutual funds**. Kalpi reads your statement and confirms what it found — the number of fund houses (AMCs), folios, and active schemes detected — before generating your full analysis.

<Note>
  **Detailed vs. Summary CAS**

  Kalpi works best with a detailed CAS (transaction-level history), not just a holdings summary. A detailed CAS unlocks additional diagnostics — like SIP activity, exit-load exposure, and ELSS lock-in tracking — that a summary statement can't support. If you only have a summary CAS, most of the analysis below still works; a few specific checks will show as "not applicable" until a detailed statement is provided.
</Note>

## Portfolio Health Score

Once your CAS is processed, Kalpi computes your **Portfolio Health Score** — a single number out of 100 that reflects how well your mutual fund portfolio is actually built, not just how it's performed.

Your overall score maps to a plain-language label — **Excellent, Good, Fair, Needs Attention, or Poor** — so you're never left interpreting a raw number on your own.

Unlike a simple return chart, the Health Score is broken into four independently-scored pillars, each weighted equally:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Performance Consistency" icon="chart-candlestick">
    What fraction of your funds are actually beating their category's median return, not just riding the broader market.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Diversification" icon="chart-pie">
    Whether your holdings are genuinely spread out, or quietly concentrated in one fund house or overlapping across near-identical funds.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Cost Efficiency" icon="coins">
    Whether you're paying avoidable costs, including Direct vs. Regular plan commission drag and how your expense ratios compare to category peers.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Risk Alignment" icon="shield-check">
    The intrinsic risk level your holdings actually carry, based on your funds' regulator-published Riskometer ratings, concentration, and volatility.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

Every pillar comes with a **Basic** and **Advanced** view:

* **Basic:** Gives you a one-line, plain-English summary of each pillar — what it's telling you, in a sentence.
* **Advanced:** Shows the full evidence behind the score: the exact numbers, the specific funds driving it, and a link to the detailed tab where that evidence lives.

Kalpi also flags your **biggest opportunity** — whichever pillar has the most room to improve — so you always know what to look at first.

## Deep-Dive Analytics

Beyond the Health Score, dedicated tabs give you the full picture behind each pillar of your portfolio:

### 1. Diversification

Asset class allocation (equity/debt/cash/gold), market-cap exposure, sector exposure benchmarked against the Nifty 500, AMC concentration against a transparent guardrail, true look-through exposure to your underlying stock holdings, and a fund overlap matrix showing exactly how much your funds duplicate each other.

### 2. Risk & Return

A plain-language risk gauge (Conservative → Very Aggressive) showing your portfolio's actual measured risk profile, a return-per-unit-of-risk scatter plot benchmarked against your chosen index, and the full metrics behind it — Alpha, Beta, Sharpe, Sortino, Max Drawdown, and Standard Deviation.

### 3. Stress Test

See how your current holdings would have performed during real historical shocks — the 2020 COVID crash and the 2008 financial crisis — expressed in real rupee terms against your portfolio today, along with a hypothetical scenario ("if the market fell 25% tomorrow") modeled off your portfolio's own Beta. Each historical scenario discloses its data coverage, so you always know how much of the number is real fund history versus a category-average estimate.

### 4. Performance Consistency

Your funds plotted against their benchmark index, a breakdown of which specific holdings actually drove your gains, and trailing returns compared against both your category median and the broader index across 1-month, 3-month, 1-year, and 3-year windows.

### 5. Diagnostics

An automated 10-point scan across your entire portfolio — AMC concentration, fund overlap, regular-plan exposure, category duplication, underperformance, and more — each shown as **Pass**, **Warning**, **Fail**, or **Not Applicable**, with the exact number and threshold behind every result.
